‘Universal cancer vaccine’ breakthrough claimed by experts

Scientists have taken a “very positive step” towards creating a universal vaccine against cancer that makes the body’s immune system attack tumours as if they were a virus, experts have said.

Writing in Nature, an international team of researchers described how they had taken pieces of cancer’s genetic RNA code, put them into tiny nanoparticles of fat and then injected the mixture into the bloodstreams of three patients in the advanced stages of the disease.

The patients’ immune systems responded by producing “killer” T-cells designed to attack cancer.

“However, more research is needed in a larger number of people with different cancer types and over longer periods of time before we could say we have discovered a ‘universal cancer vaccine’. But this research is a very positive step forwards towards this global goal,” she said.

Of course it could be the fat that was injected too… it is early days still but it does sound promising so let’s hope lots of effort goes into this further research.

Scientists have long speculated that the ancient Egyptians used metal from meteorites to make iron objects. Now an analysis of a dagger found in Tutankhamun’s tomb has given us strong evidence that this was the case – and that the Egyptians knew the iron…

Primates are and always have been my favorite animals, as a young girl I often dreamed of one day visiting the Congo to work towards learning about and preserving such amazing creatures. It seriously saddens me that we lost one in such an unfortunate event. However I do believe that the keepers made the only choice they could to save a tiny human beings life. Unlike what we see in the movies tranquilizers aren’t immediate and the bigger the animal the more likely you are for that animal to freak out for a while before actually be garnered unconscious. If they had chosen to go the route of a tranquilizer the little boy would likely have been gravely injured or worse killed. It was a sad choice, but it was the only choice they could have made.

The mother shouldn’t be hung out to dry either, toddler’s can get away very quickly and if they don’t want to be grabbed (and this one didn’t a few people tried to grab him before he fell in) they can be very slippery. The whole incident was a horrible accident and people really shouldn’t be witch hunting.

The hate crime happened just days after Donald Trump called for a ban on Muslims entering the U.S.

I’ve been using public restrooms for 40 years now, in all that time I’ve never once had an issue with anyone else using them. I don’t really care what the person in the next stall is doing and I don’t need a “man” to protect me while I use them. If someone is going to be assaulted in a public restroom (something that is already illegal) then no law is going to stop that from happening. Laws like the one passed in North Carolina are about hate and fear and nothing else. You can harbor the opposite feelings if you wish, but just know, if you choose to share hate memes it will not change my mind, in fact it will make me stop following you because I choose to remove such blind hate and intolerance from my life. I don’t like to associate with bigotry, hatred or racism.
