Zero tolerance policies do not work, and they aren’t going to prevent that one mentally ill child from bring a weapon to school. If you want less incidents to happen, train the staff to better recognize troubled youth, advocate for setting up process to help these youth and quit punishing kids for being kids out of fear. It’s stupid.
