First try at making my own Barbecue recipe, I have it the crock pot now with spare ribs for dinner tonight. I hope it comes out alright, here’s the ingredients I used. I may or may not have to tweak it a bit, that remains to be seen.
Barbecue Sauce
Ingredients
- 2 6 oz. can of tomato paste
- 2 can of Tomato Sauce
- 1/2 cup white vinegar
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- ¾ cup of sugar sweeten to taste (sweetener can be subbed)
- 4 teaspoons molasses
- 4 tablespoons liquid smoke
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- 2 teaspoons dry mustard
- 2 teaspoons paprika
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon xanthan gum
Instructions
-
Whisk everything together in a medium pot.
-
Cover and simmer 30-60 minutes, whisking occasionally to keep it from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
-
Cool, then pour into a glass pint canning jar and store in the refrigerator. It will keep for several weeks or more.
Recipe Notes
If you're going to use the xanthan gum, combine it in a small bowl with all of the dry spices.
