The Dallemagnes → December, 2007Exploring iis7Having played around with iis on windows xp I was never really all that impressed with it, which made me look elsewhere for my webhosting needs, however having upgraded to windows vista home premium I recently decided to check out iis7. First it has to be said that iis7 is much improved over it’s predecessors. Now it supports multiple websites, as well as it being easier to install php, perl, and python onto it. The control panel also has a nice feel to it. also you can easily serve up https pages with it. So impressed was I with it that I almost feel like I wasted my money when I purchased the pro version of abyss web server, I can honestly say I would not have done so had I known that iis7 would have all these added features. In less than a day I had it up and running and I have installed both php5 and php4 simultaneously as well as support for perl and python. If you plan on upgrading to windows vista, it’s definatly worth taking a look at and getting to know. For more info on iis7 visit the iis7 home page.
Back Pain SucksFor the past 6 months or so I’ve been dealing with back pain, well about a week before we had to move Mark suddenly began having back pain from outta nowhere. So we went and took him to the E.R. because we needed him to be ok for work and stuff I personally am biding my time until medical insurance kicks in. Well the Doctor figured out immediately that it was his sciatic nerve causing his pain, they gave him some med’s and told him to follow the discharge instructions and the pain would be gone within about a week. Well as I read over the discharge paperwork I noticed that all the symptoms listed for this were the same one’s I’ve been suffering with. So I’m thinking that this is what’s wrong with me. However we are so far in the hole with medical bills already, and since I’m not working or anything, I’m just holding off until February when the insurance kicks in. But I tell you what it just really sucks dealing with this pain day in and day out. It’s not only physically exhausting but emotionally and mentally draining as well. I move around feeling like a little old lady, because half the time I can’t stand for more than a few minutes at a time. Taking a shower requires a stool for me to sit on and I also keep a stool that I drag around the house with me for my daily chore’s like laundry, or cooking or whatever I may happen to be doing. Going to the store is almost always a chore as I need to constantly rest on a cart, and you might as well forget doing stuff like going to the mall because I just can’t handle the walking. I just hope February get’s here fast because I really don’t know how much more I can take of this.
Kenzie’s First DayWell Kenzie Started His new school today and he seems have really liked it. Seems we didn’t miss out on wrestling either as this school’s wrestling program doesn’t begin until the end of January, so he’ll be able to wrestle after all. He’s also going to go out for football next year. There is online grade access but I’ll have to call the school and get a pin number and password so I can access it. At this school there is a foreign language sampler class he takes also where he’ll be learning about spanish for now. There will be other Lanquages too though we’re not sure what they are yet. The Other day Kenzie said he had something he wanted to talk to us about, and it turns out he’s been thinking about adoption for a while, as he asked Mark to adopt him. It caught us both off gaurd but Mark was happy about it, and I suppose after the holiday’s we’re going to check on it and see what all that will entail. It seems things are going quit well in our little family and we couldn’t be happier about it. We love having Kenzie here and are glad that he’s so happy to be here.
Settling InWell we finnally got moved, and boy what a week it’s been, I felt like it was non-stop for like 5 days straight. After all is said done though it seems this move was a good Idea. We went from an apartment that was about 530 sq. feet to one that’s 845 sq. feet that’s quite a nice improvement. It’s a 2 bedroom 2 bath and I’m also loving the fact that I now have a dishwasher, garbage disposal, washer and a dryer. The Apartment also has a woodburning fireplace, as well as built in microwave. It’s a really nice place, now all I need is more furniture to fill it up…lol. Kenzie start’s school on Monday and he’s looking forward to it. That’s the only downfall I felt to this move was having to switch him schools again so soon however there wasn’t much we could do about it. Our old landlord really did a number on us wanting us to move right before the holidays so he could renovate the apartment, and though we tried we just couldn’t find a place in the same school district. But now we have a 12 month lease so I don’t think we’ll be moving again anytime soon.
